AMA Daytona SportBike Champion Danny Eslick has signed a contract with Erik Buell Racing that will see him riding an EBR 1190RS in the 2012 AMA Superbike Championship. Long a rumor, Buell confirmed the signing today, though he remained tight lipped on the sponsorship package he's put together for the team.

"Danny is going to be riding for us this year," Buell said. "That's all we can say right now. We can't say anything more about the program until the sponsors group organizes their brands around the PR."

EBR will run two bikes in the Superbike class with Geoff May returning to ride the AMSOIL-backed EBR 1190RS.

"Geoff [May] will be on the Amsoil bike and this co-sponsorship will probably spill over a little bit onto Geoff's bike," Buell said. "But he's still primarily AMSOIL. We put these two together and they will be both be out of our pits - but two teams. It's exciting. It's great to be able to put Eslick on a Superbike because he's a great guy. And it's good to put some more team members in the paddock back to work. I'm excited. We've been working hard to put this deal together and it will be an interesting deal when it's announced."

Eslick won last year's AMA Daytona SportBike Championship on a Richie Morris-owned Geico-backed Suzuki GSX-R600. The Oklahoman won three times with five other podium finishes to beat Yamaha's Josh Herrin to the title by 19 points.

Eslick rode a Geico-backed Buell to the Daytona SportBike Championship in 2009.
