Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez has been ruled out of the upcoming MotoGP test in Australia, the World Champion being advised by his doctors that his broken right fibula is not healed enough to take part in the on-track action at Phillip Island.
Marquez broke his fibula (the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg) last Wednesday in a dirt track training accident. A checkup today with Dr. Mir in Barcelona showed that injury is not sufficiently healed for the test, scheduled for early next week.
“I’m obviously disappointed that I’m not in Sepang at the moment and to miss Phillip Island is also unfortunate, but we believe it is the best decision,” Marquez said in a team release. “After my meeting today with Dr. Mir, although he was happy with the general situation of my leg after only seven days since the accident, he advised against taking unnecessary risk. So I will take time to rest and get myself as fit as possible to return to Qatar for the first race in the best shape possible.”
