Buchanan, Michigan (July 5, 2014) – The Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen was fastest in qualifying today for this afternoon’s RedBud National Motocross in Buchanan, Michigan, as beautiful weather greeted the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross series for the Fourth of July weekend spectacular.
Roczen’s time of 2:02.848 put him on top of the time charts, which is appropriate since he currently leads series standings heading into today’s race. Meanwhile, GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac posted the second-fastest time with a 2:03.131, edging out Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart’s 2:03.502.
Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey came next with a 2:03.890, with Lucas Oil/TLD Honda’s Malcolm Stewart turning a surprisingly fast 2:04.141.
Interestingly, Roczen’s fastest time came from the second qualifying session, while Tomac and Stewart posted their best time in the early session.
The sixth through 10th spots went to Team Muscle Milk Honda’s Trey Canard (2:04.244), JGRMX/Toyota Yamaha’s Josh Grant (2:04.417), Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Brett Metcalfe (2:04.652), BTO Sports’ Andrew Short (2:04.988), and JGRMX/Toyota Yamaha’s Justin Brayton (2:05.563).
Fredrik Noren, who is filling in for Justin Barcia for Team Muscle Milk Honda, was 22nd with a 2:09.136.
Meanwhile, Christian Craig, who is riding for GEICO Honda, was 17th at 2:05.542.
