2010 AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship

Thursday Results

You can always predict unpredictable weather at the AMA Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn Ranch, and this year is no different. Oppressive heat and humidity gave way to storm clouds late in the day, and when thunder and lightning started to roll into the area, racing was suspended early for the day. Here are the highlights of the motos that did take place.

Supermini 2: Adam Cianciarulo was supposed to be the favorite in the Supermini divisions, but he’s had nothing but trouble so far this week. He had a terrible start in his second Supermini 2 moto and could only get to fifth. A few spots ahead came Honda’s Cooper Webb, the first moto winner, who also came from way back to grab third. Up front, Suzuki’s Jace Owen railed to the win

85 (9-11) Mod: Kawasaki’s Mark Worth had trouble in moto one, but he bounced back here to grab the win. Tristian Charboneau comes from the back for third.

Schoolboy 4-stroke: Jeremy Martin caught fire half way through the day and logged and excellent moto this time around, running down fellow Suzuki rider Joey Savatgy and Yamaha-mounted Jesse Wentland to take the win.

250 A: Great race here between Suzuki riders Ian Trettle and Gannon Audette. Trettle got out front early, but Audette closed the gap and tried every move he could think of to get into the lead. Trettle held up strong, though, and got the win.

250 B Stock: An hour after winning in Schoolboy, Jeremy Martin was back and on fire again. He closed the gap on first-moto winner Kyle Peters early and took the lead. Then Peters went down. Jessy Nelson took over second and went down, too. Brad Frace took over second and tried to run down Martin but came up short, giving Martin two moto wins in one hour despite crazy heat and humidty.

Women: First-moto winner Jennifer Burton saw her title hopes crushed when he washed out in a corner and tweaked her leg, knocking her out of the race. Yamaha rider Alexa Pearson got out front early and cruised to an easy win, giving her 2-1 scores heading into the final moto.
