Kawasaki Team Green had a pretty good reason to celebrate following the fourth round of the AMA National Hare & Hound Series in Lucerne Valley, California, this past weekend, as three of its riders took the first three positions.
Former hare and hound champ Destry Abbott came out on top of the green sweep after getting around teammate Brian Brown in the second loop. Abbott went on to take his second win of the series, while Brown, the current points leaders, ended up second.
Third overall went to previous-round winner David Pearson who crossed the finish line with a badly dented exhaust pipe and a leaking fuel tank following a crash.
Russell Pearson, who along with teammate Ty Davis won the Terrible’s Town 250 off-road race the day before, was the first non-Kawasaki finisher. Pearson, the defending champ, took fourth on his Montclair Yamaha/Zip-Ty Racing YZ450F.
Honda rider Kendall Norman rounded out the top five overall.
At the halfway point of the series, Brown, who has yet to win a round this year, heads the points race with 96, followed by David Pearson with 88 and Russell Pearson with 87. Abbott is currently fourth with 78 points.
