The following is a press release...

Long a force in local radio, KPRI 102.1-FM "Rock Without Rules" has teamed up with The Motocross Files producer Todd Huffman to present the world premiere of Carlsbad USGP 1980: The Movie. The movie makes its debut on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the historic 1,500-seat Spreckels Theatre located in the heart of downtown San Diego... exactly 30 years to the day that a relatively unknown local boy Marty Moates beat the best motocross racers in the world at the U.S. Grand Prix."We were proud to be a part of the original USGP and Marty's victory 30 years ago and we are proud to be in on all the action for the movie's premiere," says KPRI 102.1-FM Vice President of Sales Pat Osburn. "You couldn't walk through the USGP pits without hearing radios tuned into KPRI-FM that day, and we want to recreate that vibe for the movie premiere," notes Osburn. The station tunes in as the official media partner for the movie effective immediately.

"San Diego has always had a motorcycle groove, then and now, producing world champions like Marty Tripes, Broc Glover, Ricky Johnson, Marty Smith, Ronnie Lechien and many others," adds Huffman. "In fact, we already have confirmations from many of these heroes who will be at the movie premiere, even if it means flying across the country, from Europe or beyond. June 22nd at the Spreckels is going to rock!""Just like young San Diego-based privateer Marty Moates who raced for the sheer joy of it, KPRI 102.1-FM is owned by two independent guys, Bob Hughes and Jonathan Schwartz, battling against the big guys," explains Osburn. "That's it... no big corporation, no Big Brother telling us what to play, just two guys who love radio so being a part of the Carlsbad movie is perfect for us."Tune into KPRI 102.1-FM "Rock Without Rules" for more details and a chance to win VIP tickets and an invite to the post-party! Tickets for the Carlsbad USGP 1980: The Movie premiere are $20 each or $30 per pair. A commemorative 1980 USGP program is even included with the ticket price.
