The Honda VFR800 Interceptor makes a return to the American Honda line-up in 2014.

The Honda VFR800 Interceptor makes a come back.

It’s back: After a five-year absence, the popular Honda VFR800 Interceptor makes a return to American Honda’s 2014 line-up. Phased out in 2009 and replaced by the bigger VFR1200, the “little” VFR is back and it’s back with traction control as a standard feature.

The meaner VFR800 Interceptor boasts a 782cc V-four engine that Honda says produces 104.5 horsepower and 55.4 foot pounds of torque. While the VTEC valve train still transitions between two valves per cylinder at low rpms to four per cylinder at high engine speeds, there is an improvement in power delivery due to changes in cam timing and engine mapping, according to Honda.

Big Red also made it a leaner Interceptor, shedding 6.6 pounds from its aluminum subframe and another 15 pounds via its single-pipe exhaust.

The VFR800 gets an HMAS 43mm fork up front with pre-load adjustment and an HMAS gas-charged rear shock, adjustable for both preload and rebound. It also gets a redesigned single-sided swingarm and more modern bodywork design, including a front-mounted radiator that gives it a slimmer profile.

Another modern touch to the new Interceptor is its digital instrument display in addition to its LED headlight and taillight. The front brakes also get an upgrade to radial-monobloc calipers.

Keeping comfort in mind, the Interceptor has an upright riding position and an adjustable seat height ranging from 31 to 31.8 inches

The standard and deluxe version of the VFR800 will be available starting in May. In addition to traction control, the Deluxe version gets ABS, grip heaters, self-canceling turn signals and a centerstand.

The MSRP is $12,499 for the standard model and $1000 more gets you the Deluxe at $13,999. It comes in two colors options: red and pearl white.

New for 2014 is the Deluxe model of the retro-styled CB1100.

Another addition for 2014 is the Deluxe version of the CB1100.

Also announced as an addition to the 2014 Honda lineup is a Deluxe version of the retro-styled CB1100. The Deluxe model gets ABS, an increase to the fuel capacity by a half a gallon, a retro-patterned four-into-two exhaust system, a new seat and restyled side covers. It’s available this March and comes in only one color – candy red. The MSRP is listed at $11,899.

And new for the standard CB1100 is a six-speed transmission (in place of the five-speed) and a new meter package that features MPG, trip computer and gear position indicator. It is also available in March and comes in Black. The MSRP for the standard CB1100 is listed at $10,399.
