Dust was the story of day two in the Dakar Rally and KTM's Juan Roma was able to take advantage of the situation to pass first-day leader Richard Sainct.

Roma passed Sainct just 15 miles from the finish and now leads overall by 41 seconds. KTM's Jordi Arcarons is third with Jimmy Lewis holding down fourth on his factory BMW.

Today's special stage was won by Arcarons - by 29 seconds over Roma.

Arcarons, the 37-year-old Dakar veteran, is one minute behind the leader in the overall standings.

Six-time Dakar motorcycle winner Stephane Peterhansel won his first-ever stage in a car today, and now lies fourth overall.
