Davis Fisher Will Ride an Indian Scout FTR750 for Remainder of the 2018 Season.
This is a press release from American Flat Track…
Daytona Beach, FL (May 10, 2018) – Richie Morris Racing (RMR) has announced it has signed AFT Twins rider Davis Fisher on an Indian Scout FTR750 for the remainder of the 2018 season, with support from Double D’s Performance Indian Motorcycle of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Both RMR and Double D’s Performance feel the partnership will prove to be a winning one with Fisher in the saddle. After a tough rookie season in the Twins class as a development rider, the 2015 AFT Singles champ has run his own program, showing flashes of brilliance with multiple top-10 finishes, just missing the podium at the Lima, Ohio Half-Mile last year.
Just last weekend, Fisher had an excellent debut on the Indian Scout FTR 750 at the Calistoga Half-Mile. He won his Heat and Semi, set fast time on the night to start from pole, and ended the night with a fifth-place finish. The 20-year-old now has his sights set on his first AFT Twins win in 2018 aboard the RMR/Double D’s Performance Indian Scout FTR750.
“It feels great to join the RMR/Double D’s Performance team,” said Fisher. “Last year I started running my own program with the help of Bob Lanphere’s Beaverton Motorcycles and Dick Wall 60, but Richie hit me up about the opportunity to ride for the team, and I couldn’t turn it down. I’m really excited. It takes a lot of stress off me and allows me to focus on racing instead of the added pressure of traveling to each race and prepping the bike myself each week.”
For team principal Richie Morris, all the pieces finally came together to facilitate a competitive program in the AFT Twins class to complement his successful AFT Singles program.
“We are delighted to join forces with Charlie (Yakich) at Double D’s Performance Indian Motorcycle out of Scottsdale Arizona!” Morris said. “We have been working hard to put together a competitive program on the AFT Twins side, and thanks to Double D’s Indian and Hideaway at Cave Creek, we have accomplished just that.
“Davis and I kind of found each other at the right time,” Morris added. “I’m happy to have the 2015 AFT Singles Champion in Davis and the 2016 AFT Singles Champion in Ryan [Wells] on our team. Now we have two proven young riders to look downstream at wins and championships for RMR and partners!”
A longtime motorcycle enthusiast, Double D’s Performance owner Charlie Yakich looks forward to his first foray into racing and being part of the fastest growing sport on two wheels.
“After purchasing the dealership last year and seeing the momentum of American Flat Track and its continued growth,” Yakich said, “we became excited to get involved and go racing. With this being our first foray into racing, we feel that we have teamed up with the right partner – Richie Morris Racing, an experienced race team with a winning record.”
The team kicks off its campaign in AFT Twins this weekend, Saturday May 12, at the home race for Double D’s Performance – the Arizona Mile – and will field a two-rider team for the event with Rob Pearson joining the squad for a one-off event.
Also supporting the RMR/Double D’s Performance effort in the Twins class are the principals of the Hideaway properties in Cave Creek, Arizona: Mark Bradshaw, Jim O’Toole and Kevin Price. The Hideaway is renowned hotspot for some of the most famous custom bike builders and personalities in the motorcycle industry.
RMR is also happy to have the continued support from S&S Cycles and Roland Sands. We would also like to thank E3 Spark Plugs and Lucas Oil, as well as a host of other sponsors: McElroy Packaging; Performance Electronics, Ltd.; Rekluse Motorsports; Galfer USA; No-Toil Industries; NEKEN; Vortex Racing; Motion Pro Inc.; Cometic Gasket Inc.; Arai Helmets; #RSDTraction_wheels.
