2018 Minneapolis 450cc Supercross Results: Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has now won seven races in 2018, with the latest coming at the final Triple Crown event of the year in Minneapolis. Tomac dominated the first of the three main events, then fought his way through the field to snatch fourth in the second main event before settling for third in the final main to take the win. The win also gave him the first-ever Triple Crown Trophy for winning that “championship within a championship” after winning two of the three Triple Crown events.
Tomac won the first main event over points leader Jason Anderson and the returning Justin Barcia, while SmarTop/Motoconcepts Honda’s Justin Brayton came home fourth, in front of AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Weston Peick, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett, and then Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, who went down battling with Baggett during the main.

Musquin recovered during the second main to take the win over Brayton, Peick, Tomac, Baggett, Anderson and Monster Energy Yamaha’s Barcia. Anderson actually crossed the line in fifth but was docked one position by the AMA for apparently not re-entering the track quick enough after being forced off the track due to contact with Brayton. Barcia’s Yamaha teammate Cooper Webb didn’t line up for the second main due to a crash in the first main that left him with an injured ankle.

Tomac actually got the holeshot in the final main event, but Brayton passed him for the lead, with a few other racers following him by. Tomac struggled to regain third place, but by then Anderson had taken over the lead. He went on to win it over Musquin and then Tomac. Barcia hung on for fourth in the main and fifth overall, while Brayton did the opposite, finishing fifth in the main and fourth overall.
Tomac took the overall with a 1-4-3 score over the 2-6-1 of Anderson, which means Anderson actually would’ve won the overall if not for the position he was docked during the second main event.
Musquin ended up third overall with a 7-1-2 score.
