2018 Minneapolis 250cc Supercross Results: Over the past few races, it’s become clear that GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin has gotten his mojo back. And in terms of supercross specifically, this is the best Martin has ever looked. In the past four races, Martin has gone 2-2-1-1, and now trails the 250cc East by 16 points with two rounds left to run.

In the final of the three 2018 Triple Crown events, Martin went could only muster third place in the first two main events in Minneapolis. In the first main, he trailed Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner, who led the race from wire-to-wire, and TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Jordon Smith, who took a strong second. Points leader Zach Osborne finished just behind Martin.

In the second main, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Osborne was absolutely dominant, while Smith landed second again, and Martin took third yet again. Main-one winner Forkner had an awful race in the second main, crashing four times on his way to 10th place.

In the final main, Josh Osby took the holeshot and led the first lap, but Martin came through the top few racers to snatch the lead and run away with it, while Forkner had his fifth fall of the night, but this time it was big: He went over the bars in a set of whoops and got up favoring his left arm, indicating a possible broken bone or dislocated shoulder. He dropped out for the night, and possibly for the series.

Martin took the win over Osborne and Smith, and the three tied in the Olympic-style scoring system with seven points apiece. But the tiebreaker goes to the finishing order in the final main event, so Martin took the win over Osborne and Smith.

Osborne now leads Smith by 12 points with two rounds left to run, while Martin sits another four points behind Smith.

Martin now has an outside shot at the 250cc East title, but the stage is set for a showdown outdoors starting at Hangtown in May.
