2018 Daytona 250cc Supercross Results: In a supercross championship rife with mistakes and inconsistency, the 250cc East hit the Daytona Supercross – one of the toughest and most demanding races of the series – and ended with a remarkably consistent result.
TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Jordon Smith grabbed the holeshot in the main event and pulled out to a small lead while GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner, and Smith’s teammate Sean Cantrell battled over second place. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne won his heat race, but started the main near the tail end of the field, then began charging forward.

Martin shook off the early challenge from Forkner and Cantrell, and Cantrell fell victim to the hard-charging Martin Davalos in his 91st 250cc start, but all the while, Osborne was on the charge. Only six laps in to the 14-lap event, Osborne found his way around Cantrell, too, and then set out after the top four.

It took Osborne a couple laps to chase Davalos down, but he made the pass happen for fourth before setting out after Davalos’s teammate Forkner in third with about six laps left. But that’s where his charge stalled out, as he narrowed the gap to the top three by the finish, but was unable to get close enough to his closest championship rival, Forkner, to make a move by the finish.

Smith took a wire-to-wire victory over Martin, who started and finished second, and Forkner, who started and finished third. Osborne was fourth in front of Davalos, AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Kyle Peters, Cantrell, and CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha rookie Brandon Hartranft.
Osborne and Forkner are now tied atop the 250cc East standings as the series heads to St. Louis.
