If he had, however, he would’ve seen the defending champ’s number-one plate not too far behind him. Sipes, on the Coastal Racing/Maxxis/Leatt-backed Husqvarna, managed to stay one step ahead of Steward Baylor and his Tely Racing-back KTM the whole way.
Sipes closed out the weekend with 21 seconds to spare over the runner-up, Baylor.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Josh Strang stayed close to the leaders throughout the race, getting stronger and stronger as the weekend progressed. He ended up third when all was said and done.
Beta’s Jordan Ashburn rode well all weekend to grab fourth overall, while Husqvarna rider Evan Smith rounded out the top five overall.
In the new Pro2 class, New Zealand’s Liam Draper (KR4 Husqvarna) took the win, followed by Jacob Rowland (Grizzly Peaks Yamaha). Yamaha rider Cole Mattison (Yamaha) was third in class.
KR4/Husqvarna/Rockstar’s Tayla Jones won the Women’s Pro class over Mackenzie Tricker (Bonanza Plumbin/Trail Jesters KTM) and Becca Sheets (FLY/Maxxis/Seat Concepts KTM). CN
