2018 Houston 450cc Supercross Results: The soft and tricky track in Houston turned the 450cc Supercross Championship upside-down for the second race in a row. One week after Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac crashed out of the Anaheim series opener, that event’s winner, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, crashed out of the Houston event with a big heat-race fall in the deteriorating whoops, dislocating his shoulder.
Musquin was out for the night. Tomac actually rode practice before pulling off early each time and he did not compete in Houston either.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Justin Barcia grabbed the holeshot in the 450cc main event and was immediately under attack from Honda’s Ken Roczen. Roczen made the pass, but Barcia pressured him for a few laps before he came under fire from Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson.

Anderson went by Barcia, then did likewise with Roczen, taking over the lead and winning his first main event of 2018, in front of Roczen, and Barcia, who fought off the advances of Honda’s Cole Seely late in the main event to take his second podium in as many weeks.

Behind Seely came AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Weston Peick, with his second top-five in a row, and then Smartop/Motoconcepts Honda’s Justin Brayton in sixth, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett in seventh, and then Red Bull KTM’s Broc Tickle, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Josh Grant, and GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin rounding out the top 10, just in front of Peick’s fill-in teammate Malcolm Stewart in 11th, and Barcia’s teammate Cooper Webb in 12th.
Anderson now leads the points standings by seven points over Roczen who is tied with Barcia for second in points. Musquin now sits 10th in points, while Tomac sits 26th.
The series continues this coming Saturday night in Anaheim, California.
