2018 Anaheim 2 450cc Supercross Results: Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac crashed out of the lead at round one two weeks ago, and since then has been unable to compete. It was obvious that things were looking up for him in practice at Anaheim 2, though, as he and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson traded the top qualifying spot throughout the afternoon. In the Triple Crown main events, Tomac suffered from a bad start in the first, 8-minute main event and could only manage fifth place, while Honda’s Cole Seely controlled the entire main event from the front. Seely took the win over SmarTop/Motoconcepts Honda’s Justin Brayton, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett, AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Weston Peick, Tomac, Josh Grant, Anderson, Monster Energy/Yamalube Yamaha’s Justin Barcia, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, Barcia’s teammate Cooper Webb, Seely’s teammate Ken Roczen, and Husqvarna privateer Chad Reed.

The second, 12-minute main event, though, was all Tomac, as he snatched the lead away from Brayton in the early going and raced away to the victory. Tomac came under pressure late from Seely, but a mistake with a couple laps to go gave Tomac all the room he needed. Seely finished second in front of Anderson, Grant, Barcia, Brayton, Webb, Malcolm Stewart, Peick, Baggett, Musquin and Roczen.

Seely entered the final, 15-minute main event leading by three points, but he got a terrible start while Tomac took the early lead again. Anderson chased Tomac down for the lead, and Tomac relented. Anderson took the win over Tomac, Brayton, Roczen, Peick, Baggett and Seely, who struggled to work his way forward through the pack.

Tomac took the win with a 5-1-2 score over Seely’s 1-2-7, Anderson’s 7-3-1, Brayton’s 2-6-3, and Peick’s 4-9-5.
Anderson now leads the points standings by 11 points over Seely, while Musquin now sits 11th in points and Tomac sits 13th with 14 rounds left to run. The series heads to Glendale, Arizona, next Saturday night, where Tomac dominated in 2017.
