Yamaha Commits to Sustainable Development Goals

Iwata, Japan (December 6, 2017) – Yamaha Motor Co. announced that it signed the UN Global Compact (UNGC) promoted by the United Nations, registering as as a participating company on December 5.
The UNGC is a voluntary initiative in which participating companies and organizations create a global framework to realize sustainable growth by acting as good members of society through displaying responsible and creative leadership. Participating companies and organizations are required to support and enact ten principles.
With our Corporate Mission of being a Kando* Creating Company – Offering new excitement and a more fulfilling life for people all over the world, Yamaha Motor is involved in a diverse range of products and businesses.
In addition, Yamaha Motor considers contributing to the sustainable development of society through its operations to be part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach, which is formalized as the shared Group “CSR Policy.” Through affirming its support for the UNGC, Yamaha Motor aims to – in addition to promoting its own CSR practices – further promote initiative towards Sustainable Development Goals, working towards corporate growth through solving societal issues in the countries and regions in which it operates.
Sustainable Development Goals
Sustainable Development Goals from 2016 to 2030 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit in 2015. Included are standards for achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals with 169 associated targets, covering issues shared by international society.
