A Quick Chat With Dunlop’s Brent Durfee at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally.
The 2017 KTM Adventure Rider Rally was held in Crested Butte, Colorado for the second time in three years. With nearly 500 attendees including a massive staff of KTM event planners, celebrity riders, world-class racers and helpful technicians, it was a popular destination to say the least. On top of that, nearly 30 vendors from the Adventure Motorcycling industry showcased their latest adventure-motorcycle gear and services.
We had a quick chat with Dunlop’s Brent Durfee inside their booth at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally to see why they made the trip, what kind of cool new stuff they have and what they think the KTM Adventure Rider Rally is all about.
What product is drawing the most interest from the attendees at the KTM Rally?
Brent Durfee: This is our fourth or fifth year supporting the KTM Adventure Rider Rally and we constantly get a lot of attention on the 9008RR and 606 tires. The 606 is popular on the KTM 690s as a great wearing, good-traction tire. Some of the single-cylinder bikes run the 908RR as well but for most of the bigger bikes like the KTM 1090, they go with the 908RR.
There are more KTM 690 and Husqvarna 701s at recent events like this. It seems some of the guys are buying the bigger bikes, riding them and realizing they want something a little smaller. So, the Dunlop 606 has been a great tire for more of those riders.
Why should riders consider attending the KTM Adventure Rider Rally?
Brent Durfee: There are all kinds of benefits for riders to attend the KTM Adventure Rider Rally. The organization is great with KTM putting everything together including the organized rides. There are a lot of products here from vendors where riders can see what they can put on their bike. They can purchase those products, get information and even get them installed. They can come talk to use with questions about tires and see what we think will work best. It’s not just one benefit, for sure. There are a number of really good reasons to get out here. CN
