2017 Tennessee 250 MX Results: Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger has had a bizarre season in 2017. He came into the year as a title favorite both indoors and outdoors, but was plagued by bad starts and inopportune falls all year long until last weekend in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. In Mt. Morris, Plessinger had a get-off in practice and smacked his testicles on the handlebars on the way over the bars. He was in a lot of pain and almost didn’t race that day, but then ended up with his best two-moto score of the series with a 3-3!

In Blountville, Tennessee, this weekend, he improved even further. Plessinger grabbed the holeshot in both motos on the way to his first overall win of the year.
When the gate dropped for moto one, Plessinger snared the holeshot over Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo, Autotrader/JGR Toyota Suzuki’s Kyle Cunningham, Cianciarulo’s teammate Austin Forkner, and GEICO Honda’s RJ Hampshire, while Pro Circuit’s Joey Savatgy ended up on the ground with GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin and Plessinger’s teammate Dylan Ferrandis.

About halfway through lap one, Forkner had a massive save in third place, coming up short on a sharp jump edge and doing a Flying W, but somehow holding on to third anyway.
Plessinger pulled away to win the opening moto over Cianciarulo comfortably, and Forkner had his hands full in the final laps with TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Alex Martin, but held off “AMart” for third. Points leader Zach Osborne had a bit of an off-moto but still took his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna to fifth place at a track (Muddy Creek Raceway) where he’s raced since he was a little kid. Just behind Osborne came another local, AMart’s teammate Shane McElrath, and then came his teammate Sean Cantrell, and then Plessinger’s teammates Colt Nichols, Dylan Ferrandis and Mitchell Harrison. Behind Harrison came Savatgy, Luke Renzland, and then Jeremy Martin, who was in a battle with Ferrandis and Savatgy for most of the race distance until an unforced error caused him to fall late in the race.

In moto two, Plessinger grabbed the holeshot again, this time in front of Forkner, Osborne, Cantrell and Nichols. Early on lap two, Cantrell went down hard when he scrubbed a jump too far and was ejected from his KTM. He dropped out of the race.
While Plessinger led out front, Osborne began applying pressure, and Plessinger made an error on lap six, giving Osborne the opening he needed to move into the lead. From there, Osborne was gone, but Plessinger hung on to finish all by himself in second while Forkner again barely held off AMart for third. Behind them came Cianciarulo, Jeremy Martin, Savatgy, Nichols, GEICO Honda rookie Chase Sexton, Harrison, McElrath, Hampshire, PC’s Justin Hill, Renzland and Ferrandis, who had another terrible moto on the day.
