Burson’s ride got off to a fast start but was greeted by a gate on the racecourse that somehow got closed. He chose to ride through it, rather than stop and open it, but got tangled up in the fencing. When the rest of the riders caught up to him, they all stopped and helped him untangle his bike, then they all agreed to continue on in the same order that they arrived at the gate. Race back on.
Dust also became a factor in the race, but Burson dealt with it all without flinching and rode off with the win, leading it the whole way. However, his teammate Axel Pearson kept him honest for second place.
Gerston, on the Motul/Kenda/Klim-backed Beta, couldn’t gain much headway in the dust and settled for third.
GasGas rider Joey Fiasconaro (GasGas) was fourth, while Tuffy Pearson (KTM) rounded out the top five overall.
Austin Garcia (KTM), Ryan Marshall (Yamaha), FMF Pro 250 racers, Cole Conatser (KTM), J.T. Baker (Husqvarna) and Tayson Weeks (KTM) completed the top 10 overall.
Burson now leads Gerston by seven points in the championship, while Fiasconaro is third, 15 points behind Gerston.
