Two-hundred-thirty people took part in the Dakar Tour in Barcelona where Sporting Director, Marc Coma presented the route of the 2018 edition. In the public, amateurs came to learn more before entering the rally. There were also a lot of new faces, but also a large selection of the top car and motorcycle competitors and teams: Nani Roma, Joan Barreda, Juan Pedrero, Gerard Farrés, Iván Cervantes and Laia Sanz representing the competitors and Monster Energy Honda Team, HIMOINSA, ARC RACING and JATON RACING, among the teams…
KTM rider, Laia Sanz declared to be “impatient to ride in the immense dunes in Peru” and hopes to avoid repeating “the errors made this year to finish in the top 15”. All confirmed their desire to be at the start of this historic edition. Marc Coma explained in detail the 14 days of competition that will begin in Lima, Peru on January 6, 2018. For the 40th edition, which will also be the 10th on the South American continent, the Dakar will return to the Pacific Ocean as well as the dunes in Peru for six days. Then the competitors will discover the atmosphere of the popular fervor in Bolivia, then that of the just as enthusiastic Argentinean zeal where Córdoba will welcome the arrival on January 20. A lot of dunes, off-road and loop stages… The description of this route has impressed those who attended.
“Attractive” is the qualifier most often heard in the commentary from the participants, from rookie to veteran, as it concerns this 2018 rally-route.
