2017 Denver Arenacross Results – After a two-week break, the Amsoil Arenacross Series fired back up in Denver, Colorado, April 22, at the Denver Coliseum with Chris Blose (Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Yamaha) claiming the overall victory, going 1-4 in the two main events. Blose and Ben Lamay (Team TiLube/Jack’s Links/Tuff Racing Honda) actually tied on points when all was said and done, but Blose’s victory in the Head-To-Head Challenge earlier in the evening was the tipping point for Blose. The point he earned for the Head-To-Head win, tilted things in his favor for the overall, as a result, he came away with the big win. It was not, however, enough to catch points leader Gavin Faith (Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/Amsoil Kawasaki) in the 2017 250AX standings, but it did close the gap to just five points with only one round left.

Faith didn’t quite make the podium on the night, much of which had to do with a second-race bobble that dropped him from fifth in the race to eighth. He finished out the second main in fifth; that, combined with a first-race second, put him in fourth overall for the night.
Jace Owen, who led the points battle going into the Race for the Ricky Carmichael Cup last month, was third overall and gained a few points on Faith. Owen (Team TiLube/Jack’s Links/Tuff Racing Honda) closed out the night with an exciting win in the second final. He passed his Honda teammate, Lamay, on the last lap to take the win by less than a second!

Travis Sewell (Kawasaki) was third in the race; a first-moto ninth netted him fifth overall.
Owen will head into the AX final in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena in two weeks (May 5) chasing leader Faith by eight points. Faith, Blose and Owen are the only riders with mathematical chances of winning the 2017 championship.
In the Western Regional AX Lites-class Championship, Ryan Breece (Team Babbitt’s/GPF Monster Energy Kawasaki/MMCR) came away with the win, which put him in a tie with Hunter Sayles (Woodstock KTM), who finished third on the night, for the class championship.
Second place in Denver was Jacob Williamson (Team Babbitt’s/GPF Monster Energy Kawasaki/MMCR).
With one round left, Breece and Sayles both have 114 points, and Jared Lesher, 13th on the night, is third with 99 points. CN
