2017 Atlanta 250cc Supercross Results: The 49th time is the charm, or at least it was for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne. After having class-dominant speed a week earlier in Minneapolis, but falling and finishing third, Osborne put the whole package together tonight in Atlanta to take the first win of his 250cc career.

TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Jordon Smith took the holeshot when Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Dylan Ferrandis tangled with KTM privateer Dakota Alix and was forced wide. Alix went off the track, while Ferrandis recovered to take over second. It was short-lived for the Frenchman, though, as he went down entering the sand only a few turns into the race, handing second place to Smith’s teammate Alex Martin. Ferrandis was up quickly.
At this point, Osborne found himself in third, with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo and Ferrandis’ teammate Colt Nichols rounding out the top five. Round-one winner Joey Savatgy started the race just outside the top 10.
Cianciarulo soon slid out and fell in a left-hander, moving Nichols to fourth, and Ferrandis back up to fifth.
Out front, Osborne quickly chased down the leaders, sneaking by Martin before the sand section, and then taking Smith wide after the finish line to take the lead. Nobody else could challenge him.
The battle for second raged on between the teammates, with Martin eventually punting his teammate Smith off the track for second as the laps wore down, handing third to Nichols.
Osborne now leads the points as the series heads to Toronto.
