2017 Anaheim Supercross 250SX Results: Shane McElrath’s win streak came to an end in the 250SX West class at the Anaheim II Supercross in Anaheim, California, January 21. However, the TLD/Red Bull/KTM rider still finished out the night on the podium, in third, but the two riders nearest him in the standings finished ahead him—winner Justin Hill and Aaron Plessinger.

Hill was flawless on this night. He put his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki into the early lead—after passing teammate Austin Forkner a few turns into the race—and never looked back. Hill looked determined to get his first win of the year and get into the title chase before it’s too late. He led all 17 laps and finished five seconds ahead of Plessinger (Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha) in what was an unusually uneventful 250SX race.
McElrath started the race in fourth and once he passed Forkner for third on the fifth lap, the top four places stayed the same for the rest of the race, and they were fairly spread out at the end.
Martin Davalos (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) finished fifth after passing James Decotis (Geico Honda) for the position on the second lap.
Dan Reardon, Tyler Bowers, Josh Hansen and Jeremy Martin, who got caught up in a multi-rider crash right off the start, rounded out the top 10 overall. Martin was dead last after the first lap.
“I would say a little bit of pressure is off [with this win],” said Hill. “It’s always tough getting that first win [of the season]. Ironically enough these are the exact same scores as last year [starting the season]–fifth, second, and first. It’s been a good season so far and I just need to stay in it. I felt off all day, but the team just did so much great work for me. Now I can go into next week looking to do it again.”
