2016 FIM SuperEnduro Poland Results

KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak announced a few weeks ago that his final race would be round one of the 2016/2017 FIM SuperEnduro championship in his native Poland. After struggling with minor injuries and illness the past two seasons, the six time FIM and five time AMA EnduroCross champion showed up determined to go out on a high note. After taking two wins and a second in the three main event format, Blazusiak took the overall to cap off an amazing career.
When asked about retiring while leading the world championship, Blazusiak said “I took this decision a long time ago so what better way to do it than this.” Over 13,000 spectators packed the arena in Krakow to cheer on their countryman.
American Colton Haaker, the defending FIM SuperEnduro champion, finished second overall for the night on his Rockstar Husqvarna with 2-3-1 finishes. “Not even Superman could have kept Taddy from his final victory. Congrats to him and an awesome career.” Haaker said.
KTM’s Alfredo Gomez rounded out the podium with 4-2-3 finishes.
Jonny Walker is expected to be Haaker’s primary threat for the SuperEnduro championship and he set the fastest time in the Superpole qualifying session but small mistakes held him back to fourth overall with 3-4-4 scores.
American Mike Brown, who just announced his own retirement from professional racing at the final AMA EnduroCross event a few weeks back showed up to race for the Jet Husqvarna team and finished fifth overall with 6-5-5 finishes.
Will Taddy really follow through with his retirement plans or will we see him at the next round in Germany on January 7th?
