We travel back 24 years in this week’s Throwback Thursday, to the start of the 1992 AMA 250 Grand Prix race at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The first set of turns at NHIS were esses that often created some very exciting starts as riders not only jockeyed for position, but also had to flick their bikes back in forth in the twisty section of track. In this shot Robbie Petersen (16) leads, chased by the field that includes Rick Kirk (5), Danny Walker (4), Chris D’Aluisio (2) and everyone else.
Jimmy Filice is tucked away in the pack somewhere. He emerged on his Camel Commonwealth Honda RS250 to win the race over Rick Tripodi and Kirk.
Today Robbie Petersen’s son, Cameron, races for M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki in MotoAmerica Supersport. He won a round of the championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park earlier this season.
