Carl Fogarty is best known for his four World Superbike Championships in the 1990s. Fogarty made his living in World Superbike, but had a handful of opportunities in Grand Prix racing. The Brit got his first taste of GP racing in the 250GP class at his home Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1986 when he finished 11th. In 1990 he substituted for Pierfrancesco Chili on the ROC Honda and scored three top-10 finishes, including this shot from the Hungarian round at the Hungaroring where he finished eighth. In the photo Fogarty (No. 55) is leading Niall Mackenzie (No. 7 Lucky Strike Suzuki), Alex Barros (No. 28 Cagiva) and Juan Garriga (No. 11 Ducados Yamaha). In 1993, riding a Cagiva in the British GP at Donington Park, Fogarty qualified on the second row, and ran second early on. He was set for a podium finish in third when his bike ran out of fuel, coasting over the line in fourth.
