Allen Satterlee (508) catches a shift perfectly on his Harley-Davidson XRTT and lofts the front wheel as he leads the start of the AHRMA 750GP race at Sears Point Raceway in October of 1988. Alongside Satterlee Is vintage racing champion Pete Johnson (1) on his 1970 Triumph Triple road racer. Also visible in the photo are Chris Allen (503) on a Laverda, Dave Russell (3) and on the far side Eric Swortsfigure who went on to win the race on his 1971 Norton Commando.
Sonoma, California’s Sears Point Raceway could perhaps be called the birthplace of the vintage motorcycle racing movement in America that began in the early 1980s and rapidly rode a surge of popularity, which saw massive crowds show up for major vintage meets from the late 1980s and throughout the ‘90s.
