In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we go back to 1992 and the AMA 125cc Motocross National at MX-338 in Southwick, Massachusetts. This Henny Abrams photo captures the start of one of the motos where a young Jeremy McGrath (17), on the Team Peak/Pro Circuit Honda, and factory Suzuki’s Guy Cooper (5) battle side-by-side for the holeshot ahead of the 40-rider field. Also clearly visible in the photo are Denny Stephenson (11), William Dzielak (89), Chad Pederson (53), Larry Ward (10), Chris Neal (74) and Doug Henry (19).
When the moto scores were tallied up that day it was Suzuki’s Larry Ward coming through with the victory with a 4-1 over Ron Tichenor and Doug Henry.
