American Cody Webb took the win at the opening round of the 2015-2016 FIM Superenduro Championship in Lodz, Poland. In his first ride on the factory FMF KTM team, Webb recorded 1-6-1 scores to take the overall in the three race format. The UK’s Jonny Walker finished second on his factory KTM with consistent 2-2-2 scores. Taddy Blazusiak rounded out the podium at his home race with 4-3-7 finishes on his KTM.
Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker, another one of several American’s competing in the Superenduro championship this season took the win in the second race of the night and finished fourth overall with 5-1-9 scores. A first turn altercation left him stuck in forth gear in the final race.
Taylor Robert tied Haaker on points for forth position with 3-8-3 scores on his factory FMF KTM. The American will compete in the Superenduro series and then take on the FIM Enduro World Championship in 2016 so he is just starting a long season of international travel.
Nevada’s Ty Tremaine made a successful debut in the Prestige (Pro) class with a seventh overall. The twenty year old won the FIM Junior Superenduro title in 2015 and is holding his own with the best riders in the world.
Rounding out the American contingent, Kevin Rookstool qualified for the fifteen rider main events and put in 11-13-12 finishes on a Sherco.
Many insiders have predicted a Webb versus Walker battle for the championship as Webb just wrapped up his second consecutive AMA EnduroCross title while Walker has dominated the International Extreme Enduro scene in 2015. Blazusiak has won six consecutive FIM Superenduro championships but is just returning from several months off from racing to recover from the Epstein-Barr virus and will be looking to defend his title. The next round of the six event series will take place in Riesa, Germany on January 2nd. Stay tuned to Cycle News for updates.
