Paul Whibley Takes Illinois OMA National

| August 25, 2014

Round six of the eight-race Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV (OMA) Nationals Series, the DP Brakes Big Bottom Cross Country, was held at the Brueggeman Family Farm in rural Plainview, Illinois, yesterday under brutal weather conditions. While the race length was cut back to one hour and 30 minutes (plus a lap) for the leader, the total race length was still two hours due to the leader checking in on lap six at one hour and 29 minutes. And that leader was Paul Whibley on the N-Fab/AmPro/Monster Energy Yamaha.

Whibley seemed undeterred by the oppressive heat and humidity, taking the FMF Holeshot and leading all seven laps to collect his fifth victory of the season. Following Whibley, just over five minutes back, was veteran rider and former OMA Champion Jimmy Jarrett, who took second place aboard his JJR Off-Road KTM after starting dead last on the combined Pro 1 and Pro 2 starting line.

Meanwhile, Adam Bonneur, on the Woodstock KTM/Fly Racing Maxxis machine, rounded out the Pro 1 podium, finishing just 23 seconds behind Jarrett.

Fourth place overall went to Pro 2 Fun Mart G2 OTR Yamaha’s Cody Bollinger who beat class points leader Mark Heresco on the SRT Off-Road/Kenda KTM 250 two-stroke, to the checkers by just one and a half seconds, placing Heresco at number two in the pro 2 class and fifth overall.
