MotoGP: Marc Marquez Talks Brno

For the first time in 2014 Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez showed that he was human after all. The reigning champ’s invincibility was tarnished when win streak and perfect season came to end at the Czech Grand Prix. It also marked the first time in his MotoGP career that Marquez had finished off the podium in a race he completed.

What happened? Was Brno a sort of Kryptonite for the young Marquez?

“Brno is one of the most difficult circuits for me, for riding style for some reason,” Marquez said. “During the weekend we didn’t find the best setup… Was not possible to win and to stay on the podium. We were struggling a lot in the beginning of the race. I already see that today would be difficult and that they were faster than me. I was like in FP4, the same rhythm, but they were faster. I tried to follow them, but was not possible. I nearly crashed two, three times. Then when Valentino overtake me I tried to follow him again, but still was not possible. And then I understand that today was much better to take points for the championship and to use that advantage that we have.”

And that advantage is a 77-point lead in the championship with seven races to go over teammate Dani Pedrosa – the only other rider not named Marquez to win a race so far this season.
