Motocross: Trey Canard Going For First Win In Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, Nevada (August 22, 2014) – Trey Canard is looking for his first outdoor national win in the 450 class, and tomorrow’s race near Salt Lake City will be the Team Muscle Milk Honda rider’s last chance if he wants to get one during the 2014 season.

Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, is the venue for tomorrow’s final round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series, and Canard says he’s going to do everything he can to get that first win.

“We’ve been getting close to getting it, we just need to put two good races together,” says Canard, who has won a moto in each of the last two rounds. “We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

While Canard sits third in the overall standings in the 450 class, Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen sits safely atop the series standings with a 20-point advantage over teammate Ryan Dungey. Something drastic would have to happen for Roczen to lose the championship tomorrow, however, anything can happen, and there is a chance for rain tomorrow, which increases the chances for mud-related DNF’s to come into play.

In the 250 class, Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin has the title all wrapped up, however, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett and Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb are separated by just three points in the race for second overall in the standings. Meanwhile, Marvin Musquin is another five points behind Webb.

Tomorrow will also mark the final time some of these guys will be riding for their current teams. There are a lot of rumors circulating around the pits about riders switching to different teams. Check out Monday’s issue of Cycle News magazine for more on this.
