Motocross: Team USA Wins FIM Junior MX World Championship

Team USA came home with the gold at the 2014 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in Lierneux, Belgium, August 10. After combining everyone’s scores in the three 65cc, 85cc and 125cc, Team USA came out on top with Team Germany claiming second overall and Team France third overall.
However, none of the American riders claimed individual championships, which ended up going to Rockstar Energy Suzuki rider, Germany’s Brian Hsu, the 2014 European EMX125 Championship, in the 125cc class, Red Bull KTM’s Kim Savaste in the 85cc class, and Australian Jett Lawrence in the 65cc class.
In the overall classification, American Jeremy Ryan finished out the day on the 65cc-class podium with third overall, followed closely by fellow Americans Jett Reynolds in fourth and Carter Biese in fifth.
In the 85cc class, Conner Mullennix was the top American finisher in seventh overall. Garrett Marchbanks and Brock Papi had problems keeping their bikes on two wheels on the wet and slick track, with Marchbanks ending up 16th overall and Papi DNFing both motos.
In the 125cc class, Alexander Fry led the American contingent with 11th overall. Ames was next best with 16th overall. Both Frye and Ames crashed out of the points in the second moto. Challen Tennant was 19th overall.
