Nicky Hayden underwent more surgery on his troublesome right wrist today in San Diego, California, the Drive M7 Aspar rider hoping that this latest procedure cures a problem that has been an issue since 2011.

The surgery was performed Dr. David Chao, the team physician for the San Diego Chargers, at the Oasis Center. Chao performed a proximal row carpectomy with radial styloidectomy, which involves the removal of a row of small bones in the wrist in order to increase mobility in the joint.

Dr. Chao reported that the surgery was a success and that Hayden has increased the mobility in his wrist. The 2006 MotoGP World Champion will now rest and start therapy in order to return to racing as soon as possible.

The MotoGP season resumes on Friday, August 8 with practice for the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
