LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 20, 2014) — Dustin Dominguez swept the SuperSport races at Mid-Ohio this weekend. Dominguez held off a desperate last-lap pass attempt by Hayden Gillim to win the race by 3.5 seconds. It was actually closer than the margin of victory indicated since Gillim was right there, but ran off the line on his final pass attempt. Conner Blevins scored third, earning his first career podium.

The result set up a situation where Gillim and Dominguez are only separated by two points so the title will likely be decided on the final weekend between those two.

“The team has been awesome all weekend,” Dominguez said. They put together a really good bike for me. The last lap I made a little mistake and Hayden tried to put it on me that was fun.”

For Gillim he said he gave it his all.

“The bike got a little better, but we’re still having issues with grip,” Gillim said. “Coming out of keyhole on the next to last lap I nearly highsided. He (Dominguez) made a little mistake coming into Thunder Alley. I felt like I could have made the pass, but I didn’t want to take us both out. We still have the points lead and we’re looking forward to New Jersey.”

It was a disastrous weekend for the rider who was dominant earlier in the season Corey Alexander. Something happened to his bike before the start and he pulled off the side of the track just as the riders were gearing up to take the green flag.
