MEDFORD, OR (June 23, 2014) Another exciting round of the GEICO EnduroCross took place this weekend in Sacramento and the Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmets support riders were there doing what they do best – scoring podiums and valuable points.

Cody Webb put in another solid performance, finishing second overall after a fierce battle with Colton Haaker.  “Overall, it was a very successful night for me. I rode well all day and had a great time with this event being my hometown race. I won my heat race and qualified second for pole position for the main event. I got the holeshot in the main and battled with Haaker for a few laps before pushing it hard into a corner and washing out the front end. I remounted quickly and collided with Taylor Robert. From there I just rode solid laps to try and catch Haaker. By the end of the 16 lap main, I settled for second. For a track, which was not very technical, I was happy with my finish and keeping the points lead as we head towards the Atlanta round.”

The Superstore ladies also put on a great show grabbing two podium positions behind overall winner Morgan Tanke. Current EnduroCross Women’s champion, Chantelle Bykerk, was still struggling with an injury from the X-Games but took 2nd place.

“I was very happy to be on the podium. I had a tough time training the last couple weeks, but I’m happy to be back on the bike racing and having fun and looking forward to Round 3.”

Rily Ellinger is fairly new to the EnduroCross game, but put in her best performance to date, finishing 3rd and at times battling with the leader. “With the track being fast I knew I needed to get a good start but considering I had the seventh gate pick, it would be tough. I came out of the first corner in fourth and was able to make a couple passes and get into second by the end of first lap. I showed the leader my front wheel a few times and tried to make a pass for the lead, then Chantelle got by me on the last lap. It was a fun race and can’t wait for the next round.”

Honorable mention goes out to Superstore support riders Gary Sutherlin and Ty Tremaine who finished 9th and 10th in the Men’s Pro Class as well as Rachel Gutish, who finished 4th overall behind Bykerk and Ellinger.

The next round of the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship will make a first time visit to Atlanta on Saturday, August 23, at The Gwinnett Center.
