Steve Rapp dominated qualifying for the Vance & Hines XR1200 race Sunday morning. Rapp hustled his Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson-sponsored entry around the track with a time of 1:34.854 to be the only rider in the 1:34 bracket. Sharing the front row with Rapp will be Kyle Wyman (KWR, Millennium Technologies) and Shane Narbonne (Six-Four Motorsports, Motion Pro).

Rapp said he was lucky to get his time.

“I got one good lap in before my shifter fell off,” Rapp explained. “It worked out well, because (had it fallen off) one lap earlier and it wouldn’t have worked out.”

Rapp went on to say the team did a great job rebuilding his bike after his crash at Road America.

Wyman said with the heat this weekend he was just trying to conserve energy in qualifying.

“I was just doing like three-lap stints at a time and try not to beat myself up,” Wyman said. “Yesterday’s DSB race really took it out of me. It was extremely hot. The biggest thing was just trying to save myself, even if the bike’s not perfect.”
