Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle claimed the overall win at round 11 of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Teutschenthal, Germany, June 22. As usual, Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings dominated both MX2 motos, winning with more than 20 seconds to spare in the first moto and over 40 in the second moto.

MXGP points leader Antonio Cairoli was not a factor in this one. The defending champ was battling a virus all week and through out the weekend and did what he could to get through the day. Despite feeling under the weather, Cairoli went 5-4 for fifth overall. He still enjoys a 25-point lead over Desalle in the series standings.

German Max Nagl, making his return to racing after injury, won the first moto but couldn’t repeat in the second moto after getting a bad start. His 1-7, however, still gave him second overall to Desalle’s 1-2.

Third overall went to Belgium’s Jeremy Van Horebeek with a 4-3. It was his 10th straight podium.

Fourth overall went to Belgium’s Kevin Strijobs (Suz, 7-2).

Van Horebeek still holds down third in the championship, 12 points behind Desalle.

A stand out performance Honda rider Tim Gajser netted the 17-year-old from Slovenia second overall with a pair of second-place finishes.

“I tried to follow Jeffrey but he was too fast, so I was two times second and I am happy, because usually I have one bad race and one good race, but today I was really good in both races, so I just want to keep going,” he said.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jordi Tixier went 3-3 for third overall.

KTM rider Valentin Guillod grabbed sixth in race one and rounded out the weekend with an impressive ride for fourth in race two, landing him in fourth overall.

Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Romain Febvre fought his way home for a fifth and a sixth in the motos to round out the top five in MX2.
