Colton Udall took top honors in the AMA West Coast Grand Prix Series feature race at round three of the AMA District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series at the 29 Palms Motorsports Complex just outside of 29 Palms, California, Saturday, April 5. It marked the WFOx Motorsports Honda rider’s first GP win of the year, and he had to come from behind to seal the victory over early leader and eventual runner-up Eric Yorba on the FMF/RPM Racing KTM and THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/Precision Concepts Kawasaki’s Ricky Brabec.

“Once I got relaxed and kind of got going after the pit [in the 90-minute-plus-a-lap race], everything started clicking and I started pulling some time out so it was pretty good,” Udall said. “I’ve had some good races here.”

Bel-Ray/FMF/Moose Racing Husqvarna’s Jacob Argubright and Pro 2 winner Blayne Thompson (who holeshot the first line that combined Open bikes and 250s) rounded out the top five.

The popular high-speed GP drew almost 1000 entries for the weekend in its 40th annual edition.
