DAYTONA BEACH, FL, MARCH 14 — Corey Alexander, last year’s SuperSport East Champ, scored the pole for this weekend’s SuperSport races after no one was able to improve on his time of 1:53.331 from yesterday’s first qualifying session. Sharing the front row with Alexander will be Miles Thornton and Daytona newcomer Jason Aguilar.

The cool track conditions this morning meant most riders used Qualifying 2 as a practice session.

“Right off the truck the Celtic Racing/HVMC Suzuki GSXR600 was real good,” Alexander said. “I was kind of waiting to see what everybody else had. I know Hayden (Gillim) and Dustin (Dominguez) are going to be strong throughout the whole year. I was waiting to see if anybody could draw a good lap time. We kind of lucked out with them having some bad luck. The lap was real good. I think two years ago we did some high 52s, so I think we have quite a bit of time left, but we didn’t have enough laps in the session to get it done. There’s some more progress to be made, but we’re happy to be on the pole for the race.”
