Kawasaki’s World Champion Tom Sykes will wear the number-one plate on his ZX-10R in the 2014 World Superbike Championship, according to the official entry list released by the FIM today.

Sykes will lead a 27-rider grid as the series gets rolling on February 23 at Phillip Island in Australia – a grid made up of six Brits (or at least from the U.K.), eight Italians, five Frenchmen, one Irishman, on Spaniard, a South African, two Hungarians and two Americans.

As far as manufacturers go, Kawasaki leads the way with nine entries. Then comes Aprilia, BMW and Ducati with three each; Honda, Bimota, Suzuki and EBR with two apiece; there is also going to be a single MV Agusta on the grid.

Aaron Yates and Geoff May will wear their AMA numbers in their debut seasons of World Superbike with Yates’ EBR carrying his familiar number 20 while May gets to keep his number 99.
