Motocross: RJ Hampshire Leads The Way At Thor Winter Olympics

(Gainesville, Fl., November 28, 2013) The Supercross finals are in the books following Wednesday’s racing action at the week-long Florida Thor Winter Olympics (aka Mini O’s) motocross event at Gatorback Cycle Park outside of Gainesville, Florida.
Factory Connection Honda/Alias’ RJ Hampshire (pictured on podium) took home two titles in the heavily contested A classes after winning both the 250 A and 450 Pro Sport finals. He also finished second in the other two classes he competed in – 250 Pro Sport and 450 A – and is on his way to earn coveted Mini O awards that are given away each year.
New Jersey’s Luke Renzland took home a title in the 250 Pro Sport class and finished 5-3-3 in the other A classes he entered and is in the award mix as well.
KTM-mounted Dakota Alix also won a title, 450 A, and had an epic race-long battle with Hampshire and Renzland in 250 A Pro Sport that had the large crowd lining the fences. But Alix would later suffer a knee injury in 450 Pro Sport that will sideline him for the rest of the week.
Other big winners were Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner from Missouri who won two titles, Supermini 1 and 2, and Georgia Lorenzo Locurcio who won both titles in Scoolboy 1 and 2.
Triangle Cycles Yamaha’s Keith Tucker was also a double title winner as he took two championships in 250 and 450 B.
Motocross racing starts today, Thanksgiving Day, on the former National track, and continues through Saturday.
