Ducati held its annual press conference at the EICMA Show in Milan, today with CEO Claudio Domenicali showing off the newest of the Monster line-up – the 2014 Monster 1200 and 1200 S.
Powered by the Superbike-derived 1198 Testastretta 11° DS engine set-up for mid-range power delivery and rideability, the new Monster gets a brand new chassis and design and all of Ducati’s latest technology.
There’s also an S version of the 2014 Monster 1200 – a bike that boasts 145 horsepower and 92 foot pounds of torque and tipping the scales at 401 pounds dry.
The bike gets high-spec brakes, suspension, a single-sided swingarm and lightweight wheels. The Monster also has adjustable seat height, eight-level traction control, three-level ABS and three-level Ride-by-Wire – all controlled via Ducati’s press-button Riding Modes.
While the Monster 1200 comes in Ducati red with a red frame and black wheels, the Monster 1200 S comes in Ducati red with a red frame and glossy black wheels; or the second option of white with a bronze-colored frame and glossy black wheels.
The Monster 1200 will retail for $13,495 with the S model priced $2500 more at $15,995
