ISDE: Team USA Second With One Day To Go

(Sardinia, Italy, October 4, 2013) – Day five is in the books at this year’s International Six Days Enduro in Sardinia, Italy, and it was a stellar day for the U.S. World Trophy Team. All six riders finished within the top 26 overall, which elevated the team back ahead of Team Australia and into second overall behind the French, although this is still unofficial at this point.

The riders woke up to a light rain this morning, which left most of the trails and special tests in excellent conditions and giving many of the weary riders a new boost of energy.

Taylor Robert was top American in sixth overall, with Mike Brown having his best day of the Six Days in ninth. Charlie Mullins was back in the top 10 again holding down 10th overall, while Thad DuVall was 16th, Kurt Caselli 18th and Zach Osborne 26th.

As far as team standings go, France is leading the World Trophy division 14 minutes and 19 seconds ahead of Team USA. Italy is third, another three minutes and 40 second back. Meanwhile, Australia dropped to fourth, and sits four minutes and 39 seconds behind Italy.

In the Junior Trophy division, Kailub Russell had another great day, finishing third overall in the class behind the top two French riders. Andrew DeLong was 13th overall, which helped the US effort, while Jesse Groemm was 28th and Grant Baylor 48th.

France also leads the Junior Trophy standings, with Italy second, Great Britain third and USA in fourth.
