Cameron Beaubier Scores DSB Win and Championship

Cameron Beaubier had a tough fight on his hands in the form of Jake Lewis, but in the end the ultra-talented Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha rider was able to pull out a gap to score his tenth victory of the season, a new Daytona SportBike record, as well as clinch the series championship.
It marked the first national title for the 20-year-old from Roseville, California.
“I can’t believe I won this championship,” Beaubier said. “It’s been a long time coming and I have to thank my team for giving me such a great bike. Jake gave me a great race. He led most of the way.”
Beaubier had to overcome a spirited challenge by Meen Motorsports Yamaha’s Lewis. The two traded the lead back and forth numerous times for much of the race.
On lap 16 of the 23 lap final Beaubier finally got up front and made it stick. He then gradually pulled away to a 1.029-second margin of victory over Lewis.
There was an intense race long battle for third. RoadRace Factory’s Jake Gagne came through to take that position over Bobby Fong, Dane Westby and James Rispoli.
