Joe Roberts did it again. The rookie SuperSport sensation found a way to come out on top after facing a strong challenge from both Wyatt Farris and Tomas Puerta. The trio battled the whole race, but in the end Roberts found just enough extra in his California Superbike School Racing Honda to pull out the win by 0.795 seconds over Farris and Puerta.

It was the fourth victory in four starts for Roberts. On Sunday he will try to make it a clean sweep in his final AMA road racing appearance of the season. For Farris it was his first podium finish.

The race came to a critical head with just a few laps to go when all three riders entered turn one side by side. All three wanted to hold the lead coming out of the turn and it was Roberts who found a way to make it happen.

“Tomas was in front of me, so I was trying to get the draft on him,” Roberts explained. “When we went and pulled out, Wyatt pulled out and we were three abreast going in. I broke (sic) really late and almost actually hit the back of him because he was swerving in just a little bit, so I had to swerve back around and pass him on the outside. That was definitely an interesting part in the race.”
