Steve Rapp didn’t even race before Sunday, but the airline pilot remembered Road America well enough to come in Sunday and dominate the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XR1200 race, winning by four seconds. Second place came down to a draft battle and it was Wisconsin’s own Ben Carlson getting the nod over defending champ Michael Barnes and Travis Wyman in a blanket finish.

“In this series you don’t get away like that very often,” Rapp said. “So when that comes along I’ll take it. It’s great to get the win here for Suburban Harley-Davidson.”

Tyler O’Hara was in that battle for second when something happened to his bike and he dropped out on lap five.

The third for Barnes put the No. 1 plate holder in the series lead.
