There was a great three-way dice for the lead in Saturday’s AMA Pro Motorcycle-SuperStore.com SuperSport race. In the end National Guard/Celtic Racing Suzuki’s Corey Alexander had just a little extra and was able to pull out a gap on pole winner Stefano Mesa to win by 1.118 seconds. Jeffrey Tigert, who was in the mix for the win most of the way, fell back late in the race, but was strong enough to hold on to third.

Tomas Puerta finished fourth after a riveting battle with David Sadowski Jr. and Ricardo Valdez.

Alexander knew the race was going to be tight.

“We were so close the whole race,” said Alexander, who earned his second-career victory in the class. “I knew Stefano would make a banzai move on me in turn five. It was a great race and I’m glad to be able to come out on top.”

It marked the first win of the season for Alexander and moved him into second in the SuperSport East point standings, 11 points behind Mesa.
