It has been made official- Malcolm Stewart will be joining the TLD Lucas Oil Honda team for the 2013 AMA Motocross season.

The former JDR J-Star KTM rider is filling in as a replacement for the injured TLD rider Christian Craig who broke his wrist at the final Supercross round in Las Vegas.

In addition to the growing relationship between the Stewart family and Troy Lee Designs with older brother James Stewart’s Seven brand, TLD Race Team Manager Tyler O’Keefe adds that Malcolm has been in his sights for the past few years.

“I’ve been watching Malcolm ride for the past few years,” said Keefe. “I’ve been impressed with his talent and speed and know what he’s capable of doing. I thought that bringing him over in Christian’s absence would be a good opportunity for both he and us.”

Malcolm has been testing the new bike and will make his debut this weekend at Hangtown with the new team and riding the Honda CRF450R.

“The opportunity to ride for TLD presented itself at a great time for me. I’m really enjoying the bike and I’m looking forward to competing against some great riders in the 450 class this season,” Malcolm said about the move to the new team and the big class. “It’s a dream come true for me to be able to race against my brother. I’ve been looking forward to this my whole life, so I’m definitely going to make it count.”
