Davi Millsaps made it official today that he won’t be competing in the upcoming outdoor Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

The Rockstar Energy Drink team rider, who is currently battling Ryan Dungey for second place in the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, says that his 2013 season is over after tomorrow’s final round of the Supercross Series in Las Vegas, citing a bad knee.

“I will not be racing the outdoors,” Millsaps said.

Millsaps has been bothered by a bum knee all year and has decided to get it fixed after Supercross so he can be fully healed and ready to go for the 2014 Supercross season.

“My knee is pretty beat up,” he said. “I figure it’s best to get it fixed now and miss the outdoors, rather than have maybe knee replacement surgery later on and be out a whole year.”

He added that his knee has been taking a beating for quite some time and that it wasn’t one specific injury that is forcing an upcoming surgery to clean up the knee.

His spot on the team will be filled by Rockstar Energy Suzuki rider Ryan Sipes, who currently competes in the 250 West Supercross Championship. Sipes recently returned to the championship after suffering an injury earlier in the year.
